Did the foster carer make the foster child feel welcome?
Yes, the foster carer was immediately welcoming to the foster child.
Was the home always clean and warm?
The foster carer’s home is always clean and warm. They maintain a lovely home environment that is welcoming for children and young people. They have an amazing garden and encourage the children in their care to be mindful and respectful of nature.
How was your experience of the interaction with the foster carer?
Exceptional. The foster carer is a model foster carer. They continue to provide excellent care for the foster child. They are the child's strongest advocate and always make them feel listened to and respected. They provide and enforce clear but fair boundaries, especially in relation to home time. They work well with professionals, liaising and attending meetings to ensure the foster child is getting the support they need and are entitled to. They support the foster child with health and education appointments, ensuring accurate information is passed to professionals about their needs and any treatment/interventions that may be required.
Please provide examples of any areas requiring improvement:
The foster carer may have a tendency to talk at length about an issue with a young person when they need a break or when the information could be delivered in a different way.
If a situation arose again, would you use this foster carer again?
Yes, definitely. I wish the quality of this foster carer’s care could be replicated nationally. I would strongly advocate for young people to be placed in their care. They are a wonderful person – kind and generous – and a credit to the fostering profession.
