We have seen first-hand the positive impact that the foster carer and fostering agency have had on several young people who came into care following multiple placement moves and significant life challenges.

One young person arrived after several foster placements in a short period of time. There were some initial difficulties due to language barriers and boundary issues. Fortunately, both the Children's Social Worker and Supervising Social Worker were very quick to step in, and those issues were addressed satisfactorily. The young person is now a happy and confident young man who has been actively seeking support from professionals, his college and his friends to pursue his ambition of becoming a plumber. He has built strong relationships with his peers and former teachers, is well regarded in his local football community, and is described as incredibly kind, warm-hearted and supportive of younger children in the household.

Another young person joined the placement following a previous placement breakdown. Initially quiet and shy, he has grown in confidence and now communicates well despite arriving in the UK with very little English. He has settled into school, formed friendships and enjoys learning, particularly history, geography and mathematics. He is conscientious, hardworking, respectful and takes pride in his appearance. He contributes positively to family life, willingly helping with cooking and household tasks, and has embraced opportunities to improve his English and learn about new cultures.

A further young person came into placement having experienced significant trauma prior to arriving in the UK. Despite managing emotional challenges and uncertainty about his future, he remained respectful towards his foster carer and considerate towards the other young people in the home. He became an important part of the family, regularly spending time together talking, sharing meals and supporting one another. The care, warmth and stability provided by the foster carer ensured he experienced a nurturing family environment during an incredibly difficult period in his life.

Throughout these placements, the fostering agency has demonstrated a responsive and child-centred approach. Communication between the agency, Supervising Social Workers and Children's Social Workers has been prompt and effective, with challenges addressed quickly and appropriately. The support provided to both carers and young people has contributed to positive outcomes, helping vulnerable young people to settle, grow in confidence, build relationships and work towards brighter futures.
